Abortion and the Damage Done

Back in 1990, I didn’t mind the mistake of having a child ‘out of wedlock’ as we say. Truly. I was going to use becoming a Dad as a springboard toward my future. After the initial shock wore off, I decided when my girlfriend announced that she was pregnant, I was going to raise that little one in the ways I had not been. I imagined many ways I would grow into the role of doting father and how I would do whatever it took to provide for my girlfriend and our little bundle of joy.

I never wanted my girlfriend to have an abortion. I also had no idea of how much it would hurt me as well as her. The abortion thrust the two of us apart forever. Even though I was not the one who had the surgical procedure, I carried the guilt and shame and heartache around until I was healed of it in a time of deep prayer back in 2010.

Many misguided people politicize abortion as a “woman’s right,” but don’t ever dismiss the pain the abortion may have caused the man involved. It’s odd to me how women might think of it as a woman’s right, not thinking that the baby might have grown up one day to be a wonderful woman.

I’m trying my best, but there is no easy way to put this: Abortion is a human sacrifice to the devil. When somebody sheds another person’s innocent blood for their own benefit, that is human sacrifice. Murder is human sacrifice. Abortion is murder. Why else would people seek to kill a child unless it’s so they may live as they please?

Life is precious. It is our one chance at redemption. There is no reincarnation, no second go around — ever.

27 Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, 28 so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.

The devil knows this and wants people to commit infanticide (abortion) to help him dominate humanity from beyond the grave. People around the world make blood sacrifices so as to request help from a spiritual power. God no longer requests blood sacrifices be made on our behalf and He certainly never wanted us to make human sacrifices.

Jesus laid down His sinless (a.k.a. innocent) life for OUR good and His sacrifice fulfilled the old sacrificial system so we do not gain righteousness by the shedding of the blood of animals, but only through the grace that came since Jesus’ blood satisfied our sin payment. Jesus was murdered/sacrificed on our behalf. That’s how Jesus tricked the devil and made a Blood Covenant possible between God and man. Hallelujah!

It’s never been God’s will that anyone should murder another human being, let alone their own child. God (YHWH) is the God of the living and He IS love. It’s not that He is simply loving, but He is love itself. How might we show love to one another if we’re too busy competing with, and killing, one another?

God created us equal, loves us all equally, and has given us equal VALUE.

The Declaration of Independence states in the first sentence of the second paragraph, “We hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness….” There is no way someone can actually have the opportunity to live out this beautifully-crafted statement of the need for freedom and the dignity of human life but that we should live — and encourage others to live — according to God’s will.

The big question is this: ‘What is the value of a human life?’ Is another human being a means to an end, a piece of meat, a number? How about a nameless, faceless part of a large anonymous mob that must be manipulated to become good little consumers to serve a tyrant’s whims? How about a person trying to find their way who just wants a chance at making a life and fulfilling a dream or two? How about a pastor, doctor, housewife, teacher, fisherman, or an artist? What is your value? Regardless of what people may say, you are a person of invaluable worth! And we are all of equal value to God!

Prayer

[You may or may not have had an abortion, but many of us know someone who did. Please keep abortion in your regular prayers so more people can have the truth and have the opportunity to live according to it. ]

My Lord, I come before You in repentance of thinking that abortion was simply birth control or a way out of an obligation or responsibility. I now see it for what it is.

(If you have had one repent of, renounce, and reject having done it and ask that God would heal your wounded heart from the pain of the loss or if you know somebody who had one, please pray for them to know the truth and repent of having done it.)

Lord God, the pain of this broken heart has been a curse to me and I ask You now to heal me of this pain and break off any and all assignments of the devil I brought into my life and the lives of others as a result of my actions. Please forgive me, Lord, and help me to make a difference in the lives of others who would consider having one themselves. In Jesus’ mighty and compassionate name, amen.
